Positano...stairs, stairs and more stairs.

We spent our fist day in Positano walking down to the beach.  You cannot imagine how beautiful this town is.  Built completely up a hilliside.  From the beach to the top of the houses it's probably 500 feet.  Our villa sits at 322 feet above the beach.  The beach below us is only accessable by stairs or boat.

We mosied into town walking the main road down...It takes about 15-20 minutes is loaded with shops and hairpin turns lined with small cars and motor cycles. You must be careful not to be run over by a bus or a car.

Motor cycles lined up to rent.  I would love to do this but....I do want to return home unmamed and alive.

So, you see these stairs....well that's how you get around here if you don't walk the road.  It's shorter and faster...but it's STAIRS!!

This photo is from one of the hairpin turns down from our villa.  The photo doesn't do it justice.

I love walking by this ceramic shop. They have the most beautiful ceramics.  It hangs over the cliff just above a hairpin turn.

This is where you catch the ferries...to Capri,Sorrento,Amalfi, Salerno.

We decided we wanted to see the other beach that is below our villa.  We hiked into it but the bad thing is that we had to hike out of it.  All 600+ Stairs UP!!  And guess what...i did it but now I have the shin splints to show for it. I can only imagine the people staying at the hotels on the beach must get there by boat.  344 feet of stairs with luggage...I don't think so

Another perspective of Positano from the ferry.
