It's hard to believe we only had 18 hours in Rome. We made our way out of Seatac on September 11th thinking it would be a quiet day to fly. Not so.. the British Air flight was so full they were overbooked and we didn't get a seat assignment until we arrived at the gate.
The flight was smooth and uneventful. We landed early and headed to the business class lounge. I booked a massage while Jay took a nap. Then we find out our flight is delayed by 2 hours. Not good when you already have a 5 hour layover. The only good thing about it was being in the Business Class Lounge....free drinks, free food so we partaked.
We finally landed in Rome at 6:15 PM, got our baggage and headed for our driver...Francesca,,,,you know your special when someone is standing their with your name on a board. She proceeded to whisk us to our hotel in Rome.
We arrived at 7:40 PM, met up with Nora and gang and a call to be ready at 8:30 for our Rome By Golf Cart Tour. A quick shower and change of clothes and we were ready to roll.
Picked up by Fabrizio we set out to see as much of the old Rome as possible, that is by stretch golf cart.
Jay and I at the Coliseum.
This was by far the only way to see Rome.... Checkout our night photos....
I think this is the Forum above and some plaza they refer to as the Wedding Cake Below.
The Vatican even though it's hard to see.
A stop for italian small bites to end the night at 11:30....we had a great time with Fabrizio!!
It was off to bed to try and catch a little sleep before our private tour of the Vatican....
9 AM came early.....Stefano picked all of us up and dropped us at the Vatican to meet up with our guide Mikala....She was awesome. We had already purchased tickets so we were able to skirt the lines!! The only way to do the Vatican.
We spent 3 hours there and were absolutely amazed at how much we saw. By 12:30 we were headed out of Rome for our next stop on the trip...Positano.Check out my Vatican Photos..
