Somewhere between Rome and Naples we headed off the highway into the mountains up a dirt road. We thought we were lost but no no no. We arrived at some little local restaurant that use to be a mill.
No English spoken here. The owner proceeded to pull out his Iphone with TRANSLATOR...to help us. Little did he know that Linda speaks Italian.
Well we managed to order, not really knowing exactly what we ordered but here is a sampling of a couple courses...
Gnocchi....yes stuffed with ricotta with a tomato sauce with ricotta and chili peppers....YUM
I don't remember what this was but it was delicious!!! I unfortunately didn't get photos of the braised buffalo or the braised sliced beef. They also brought out a roasted pork knuckle.
For dessert we had a selection of Dolce..sweets with LEMON-CELLO whipped into frozen goats milk..OMG... I never drink lemon-cello but this was to die for.
During our dinner Paolo...the guide we always hire when in Rome (who actually wasn't available this trip) drove out to the restaurant on his bike to surprise us. He toured us around the place..
The creek runs down both sides of the restaurant and under it for the mill to work. This place was hundreds of years old.
