It's easy to walk everywhere, incredible art, architecture and special shopping.
We made the trek from the train station to our hotel...Hotel Pendini in Piazza dela Republica. This was the perfect location to stay. Central to everything. A carousel running daily, great outdoor cafes and the hotel was wonderful. Nice size rooms, fabulous bathroom... very very clean...very nice, great breakfast Friendly staff. This hotel has been in the same family since the beginning and the historical photos on the wall were amazing.
We checked in, got ourselves situated and then headed to my favorite store in Florence. I had been waiting the whole trip to go back to David Leather and the owner Franko!!!
Of course I think Franko might have had his best night of sales when we walked in!!! 7 of us is a pretty good entourage to buy leather coats. They are the finest in Florence. So shop we did.
Franko made arrangements for Jay and I and Margaret and Theron to go have Florentine steak.
We felt pretty special when we arrived at the restaurant on the other side of the river across the Ponteveccho Bridge. There was a line up out the door for people waiting. We walked in and the owner said are you Franko's friends...of course....and he took us right away to the best table in the house!!
Surprising in Florence is the people who bring their dogs to the restaurant!! I love this place.
Later on we ran into Nora and her gang SHOPPING!!!! HAHA
Of course we MUST have gelato.
Every trip to Florence requires going and rubbing the boars snout!! So Margaret and Theron went first.
Jay decided he needed to KISS it.
Another reason I love Florence...The ARTS... live musicians.....
Chalk Artists and more!!! And they do this every night.
So after our day of shopping, eating and site seeing...it was time to enjoy that bottle of wine we brought from Positano...
At this point we have only been in Florence for roughly 6 hours. I am in Heaven.
